Classic Ethiopian chickpea stew

Shiro

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shiro powder
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp berbere
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Sauté onions in oil until soft.
  2. Add garlic and berbere, stir gently.
  3. Mix shiro powder with water separately.
  4. Slowly add while stirring.
  5. Simmer until smooth and thick.
